Aperitio House

Architecture

Aperitio is a one-story wooden house built on a site facing the Sea of Japan in the northern part of Tottori Prefecture. The eaves are kept low so that the building blends into the surrounding landscape. Light, wind, sound and scenery are brought indoors. The north face toward the sea is clad in galvalume steel sheet, the same material as the roof, for easier maintenance. Large openings on the south side provide daylight and ventilation and link the rooms with an outdoor living area. The exterior is kept simple to avoid an overly symbolic form.
