Taki Landscape
Taki Landscape
Taki is a landscape design for a sloping site in Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan. The design respects the existing building and the surrounding nature. A staircase was built from the same concrete used for the exterior walls, creating a sense of unity between the building and the garden. The concrete steps are set in irregular sizes and positions, so they appear to float above the slope. A waterfall was formed from a natural stream on the site, using stone masonry shaped by hand. Seasonal flowers line the walkway and mark the four seasons of Hokkaido.
